Bachelor in Computer Application (BCA) is a three-year undergraduate course in
computer application. This course is for students who are willing to make a
career in the field of information technology (IT). In BCA, students are taught subjects related to basics of
technological applications such as business data processing, system analysis,
mathematics, statistics, etc. Many colleges in India offer this course where
job prospects are quite bright. Let us see the jobs available for students
after pursuing BCA.
BCA Jobs
There are many companies in India, in both private and
public sectors, which recruit graduates in BCA.
In the private sector, many software companies hire BCA graduates.
In India, top IT firms such as Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Wipro,
Oracle, IBM, Infosys, HCL Technologies, Siemens, etc. recruit
graduates in computer application. Apart from these companies, there are
several small organizations where students are
hired as software engineers. The
job has many levels of hierarchy and encompasses a range of responsibilities.
Even dairy and banking firms are hiring BCA students for solving their
software-based queries.
However, in the private sector, jobs are not only limited
to firms that deal with software development. Today, most companies need an
IT professional and hence BCA degree holders can find jobs in
companies that deal with other aspects of IT such as IT support manager,
database administrator, webmaster, etc.
Apart from the private sector, a BCA graduate
can also get a lucrative job in the public sector. Petroleum and telecom
sectors require computer application professionals for
smooth operations. Various ministries also need computer application experts to maintain their systems. However, students need
to clear PSC tests and certain entrance exams to bag jobs in ministries. With
increasing penetration of IT in the country, BCA degree holders can also get
jobs in web services and system management.
Job prospects for students
are not only limited within the country. Many companies abroad hire
graduates in computer applications. These companies offer very high salaries
along with various other benefits and facilities.
There are many reputed colleges in Kolkata, India, that offer this
course. To pursue BCA, students
must pass higher secondary exams (10+2) from a recognized board or university. JIS
College of Engineering, Narula Institute of Technology and Guru Nanak Instituteof Technology are some of the well-known colleges in Kolkata offering this
course. In most colleges of Kolkata,
