Marching towards Education Excellence
JIS Group is born
out of Sardar Jodh Singh's entrepreneurial zeal and vision, which through the
years have spanned in the fields of dairy business, telecommunication,
transportation, infrastructure, logistics, education, healthcare and social
service. However, his aspiration to serve society by imparting knowledge,
education and employment culminated into JIS
Group Educational Initiatives. It all started with a joint venture project
in 1998 namely Asansol Engineering College.
JIS Group
Educational Initiatives is a premier education service provider in West Bengal,
having 22 Institutions, 21,000 students offering 58 academic programmes. JIS Group Educational
Initiatives started its journey towards fulfilling its mission – Igniting
Minds, Empowering Lives from the year 2000, with JIS College of Engineering ,
Kalyani. Presently, JIS College of Engineering is an Autonomous Institution,
the only self financed Engineering college in West Bengal with NAAC accreditation,
NBA accredited streams and has also been granted World Bank assisted, and MHRD
sponsored Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP, Phase II)under
subcomponent 1.2. Narula Institute of Technology has also procured TEQIP
Phase II Grant, under subcomponent 1.1 and is on its way to gaining Autonomous
status shortly. In the year 2002 a Centre for Management Studies was
launched followed by School for
Management Studies. Guru Nanak Institute of Technology was
established in the year 2003 and then forayed into health education with the
first private dental college in West Bengal – Guru Nanak Institute of Dental
Sciences & Research. The Group also ventured into hospitality and
pharmaceutical education in 2005 with Guru Nanak Institute of Hotel
Management and Guru Nanak Institute of Pharmaceutical Science &
Technology.
The year 2008
was a momentous year for us, as the foundation stone for the private Medical
College & Hospital- Guru Nanak Institute of Medical Sciences &
Research has been laid. In 2009 Dr. Sudhir Chandra Sur Degree
Engineering College was established. Other Joint Ventures of JIS Group
includes- Greater Kolkata College of Engineering and Management and Abacus
Institute of Engineering & Management. In 2012, the Group collaborated with
Konkan Gyanpeeth in Maharashtra which comprises four colleges in the
fields of Engineering, Pharmacy, Science, Commerce and Humanities.
Our students
have time and again proven their academic excellence by topping the chart in University
Exams. They have also qualified in reputed institutes like IIM, ISI,
IIT and also in countries like UK, USA and Germany. We
have placed our students with major national and multinational brands likeTCS,
Capgemini, L&T, Infosys, IBM, Cognizant, Ranbaxy, Glaxo and Google.
Students have also procured esteemed placements in Govt. Organizations’ like ISRO
and BARC and UBI.
The students
aspiring to study in JIS Group can choose from a wide gamut of courses
accredited by NAAC, NBA and approved by AICTE, Dental Council of India, and
Pharmacy Council of India. The Group has AICTE sponsored Industry-Institute
Partnership Cell as well as Entrepreneurship Development Cell. The Group also has
prestigious and strategic collaborations with Volkswagen, Texas Instruments,
IBM, Infosys, MSME and ICICI amongst several others to equip the students with
cutting edge skill. Further, JIS Group has distinguished knowledge
partnerships with esteemed institutions like Asian Institute of Technology,
Bangkok and National Institute of Technology, Sikkim. Further, they have
established 1st Centre of Advanced Studies in JIS College of Engineering in the
fields of Nano Science and Cloud Computing in association with Central Glass
& Ceramic Research Institute and Jadavpur University respectively to
facilitate result oriented knowledge sharing.
The
Group's continuous commitment towards achieving distinction in education has
been crowned by many prestigious awards and recognitions. Europe Business
Assembly, United Kingdom, recognises JIS Group Educational Initiatives as one
of the Best Enterprises in Educational Sphere. Word Consulting and Research
Corporation (WCRC) awarded JIS Group of Institutions as Asia’s Best Private
Education Institute. The visionary edupreneur of JIS Group Educational
Initiatives, Mr. Taranjit Singh has also been endowed with the illustrious title
of Education Evangelist by ET Now in association with Skill Tree for bringing
about innovation and transformation in the evolution of learning. Further, WCRC
also awarded Mr. Taranjit Singh for his excellence in Education Innovation and
Leadership.

I always experienced a yearning to
acknowledge my responsibilities and reciprocate by contributing to the growth
and development of our society. Years ago when I visited my son's school, I
perceived that the best way to advance society is by fostering education and it
was at that moment that the dream and vision of JIS Group Educational
Initiatives was conceived.
"Vision looks inward and becomes duty. Vision looks outward
and becomes aspiration. Vision looks upward and becomes faith."
Now, when this vision of duty, aspiration and faith has become a
reality, it is a proud moment for me and my team to see thousands of students
pursuing higher education in JIS Group of Colleges and equipping themselves to
become industry ready professionals for successful careers. In this process the
Group intends to unite all dimensions of Education from Undergraduate to Post
Graduate Programmes in Engineering and Technology, Computer Applications,
Dental Science, Pharmacy, Hospitality, diverse streams of Management and so on
under the same umbrella in order to comprehensively and collectively optimize
the reach of Educational Initiatives in every strata and corner of society
towards a better future.
Our educational Initiatives believes that creating an academic
foundation for social, cultural, scientific, economic and technological
development in our Nation can mature into Global Interface by giving way to
education exchange in the International territory as well. Therefore, our focus
is to achieve unparalleled excellence that will bring development to our
society and mankind by optimizing their potential, thereby establishing the
observation of the renowned Journalist Sydney J. Harris on the role the purpose
of education which is to "turn mirrors into windows.
